If you run a website or Blog, then it’s important that you know how things are going so that you know where to improve. enabling comments on your site is one way of getting direct feedback from your visitors. But sometimes it’s good to get a more detailed report of just exactly how your website is doing. Monster Insights is one of the many tools available for doing this, and this is what I’m going to review today.
Monster Insights Review
Before I start, I’d just like to say that I’m not a paid member of this tool. I have so far, only used the Free version which is limited in it’s functions. I will however do my best to explain to you what it is, what it offers and what I think of it myself (from the limited experience I have of it).

Monster Insights Overview
Monster Insights is a WordPress plugin that lets you read and analyse your websites traffic on the back end of your site without the need to open a separate page and logging into your Google Analytics account. You will of course need to set up a Google Analytics account and link it to Monster Insights. But you only need to do this once and it will provide the traffic data from thereon in.
It was originally created by Yoast owner Joost de Valk and was called Google Analytics by Yoast. However, back in 2016 it was taken over by Syed Balkhi and was given a complete revamp and rebranding. This is the same guy who now owns AIOSEO as well as WP Forms, WP Beginner and OptinMonster plugins for WordPress.
As I said earlier, you can get the basic demographics of your site, but the full upgraded version offers much more. So, lets have a look at what Monster insights have to offer on their full paid membership;
Keep tracks on how your Google AdSense ads are doing, how many clicks they get and who’s clicking on them.
Monster Insights Google AMP is an add on that lets you monitor how the mobile traffic is doing on your pages and posts that you enable it on.
This add on allows you to track authors, tags, searches, users, categories and more.
If you run an eCommerce website, this add-on lets you keep track on your sales on WooCommerce, Easy Digital Downloads, LifterLMS or MemberPress stores.
This may well be a handy add-on to help you Improve compliance with GDPR and other privacy regulations.
Facebook Instant articles
This add-on allows you to link your Facebook Instant Articles with your Google Analytics account nice and easily.
Handy if you have forms for a mailing list or offer on your site as this add-on lets you keep a track on all your form traffic.
This add-on lets you easily enable Google Optimize on your WordPress site. This will let you carry out A/B tests on your website.
With this add-on, you can easily adjust your site speed and sample rate for Google Analytics.

Who is Monster Insights For?
Monster Insights is actually a great little tool for anyone who is new to running a website and more importantly, the traffic analysis. It has a user friendly interface which makes all of its data easy to read.
Personally, I find Google Analytics more accurate, but for a beginner, they can be a bit trickier to use. So monster Insights makes it easy for beginners. It’s great way to get the hang of how Google Analytics works.
However, some of the features available in the upgraded versions may well be for you if you need to analyse certain fields. So I will give you a run down of everything it offers below and you can decide for yourself if it’s right for you.
Monster Insights Tools
The tools Monster insights provide are actually not too bad, even on the Free version. especially for basic data, the free version suffices well enough. Here you can read statistics on the amount of visitors and page views your site has had over the past 28 days (The Paid plans allow you to alter the date ranges).
It also gives you data such as the location of your site visitors, the devices they are viewing it from, where about on the internet they came from to get to your site and bounce rates, etc. The Free version is quite limited and only shows you the top 10 pages on your site. But the paid plan lets you delve deeper into more detailed analytics.
The owner Syed Balkhi is pretty good at keeping users updated with anything new on Monster Insights as well as lots of handy tips and tricks. You can get these sent straight to your email inbox.
You can get the basic version absolutely Free for as long as you want. But to get full access to all of it’s features , you will have to upgrade to one of the price plans shown below.
I have to say, when I first discovered Monster Insights around a year ago, they displayed the same crossed out prices with the special offer. They also have a countdown timer showing that these are a limited time special offer. they still show the same today.
They do however offer a 14 day Money back guarantee which they also claim is unconditional. So this may be useful if an upgraded version is something that you are considering. At least that way if it turns out to be rubbish, then you can always claim your money back.
Again though, I’m only telling you here what they’re offering and have never tried this myself. So I’ll leave that one up to you to decide.
But they do seem to be a pretty straight up team from my experience of their other products. So I’d imagine they’d be trustworthy enough.

My Final Opinion of Monster Insights
In my own opinion, I wouldn’t bother with the upgraded versions. I prefer to use Google Site Kit which has everything I need. But if the features monster Insights offers is for you, then it may well be worth you going for it. I suppose it’s just a case of what you need for your website and what you want to do with the data.
But the Free version is definitely worth downloading if you are a beginner because it will give you a very easy to read overview of how the whole Analytics function works. Once you have the basics, you can then decide if you want to upgrade, or go for something more basic to your needs.
So I’d recommend it to anyone who is starting up their website for the first time for sure.
Is it a Scam?
No. I wouldn’t say it was a scam. My experience of their other product leads me to believe they are trustworthy. I guess it’s just a case of whether the product is for you or not.
